‘Dreams I Decide’ concert by two Taiwan famous groups S.H.E and Fahrenheit had just ended, Fahrenheit is already busy preparing for their ‘Fahrenheit’s Fantasy World Tour’. Recently the four members of the group came to Jing Hua Teahouse to promote their countdown concert held on 31 December in Beijing; this is the third stop for the tour. The four members interestingly asked fans to teach them the dialects of different places; laughter was never-ending at the event. Fahrenheit revealed that the recording for their new album is already coming to an end, and is expected to be released at the end of the year, and this time the theme is ‘rock’.

At the event

Fahrenheit sends biscuits to treat fans

Fans who are familiar with Fahrenheit will know that Wu Zun is the one in the group who loves to eat and can eat. As expected, on the day of the meeting, Calvin Chen lead the group by walking in front, leader Jiro Wang followed behind holding a cup of tea carefully; the youngest Aaron Yan kept making funny faces at the camera as he walked. As for Wu Zun, he had a big plate of biscuits and he was eating happily as he walked. After they entered the fans who were sitting quietly in their seats got up and threw the presents which they had prepared into the arms of these handsome young guys. Wu Zun immediately treated the fans to biscuits; Aaron Yan took the plate from his hand and started distributing to fans. Calvin Chen stood up and pretended to leave, and jokingly said, “So you guys came for the biscuits today, let’s go.”

Jiro Wang’s leg injury became the attention of the fans’ concern. Jiro Wang said light-heartedly, “The therapy that the doctor suggested is rather useful, Wu Zun’s coach is also giving me some pointers on therapy as well, nothing too serious.” Looking at the way Fahrenheit is running around everyday, fans reminded, “You all have to sleep early, drink more water.” Wu Zun picked up the glass of water in front of him, drank everything in a gulp and said, “Actually I’m not thirsty, but it is right to drink more water.” Jiro Wang revealed, “Actually we are very clever, already trained until we can sleep on planes or trains, even during shoots we can sleep while standing, Wu Zun sleeps like this.” Aaron Yan sighed and said, “It’s not that we don’t want to sleep, it’s just that we can’t sleep.”

Learn to speak Beijing language for concert

The members of the group said that they are waiting to have their concert in Beijing. Calvin Chen revealed, “The meaning of this concert is very deep because it was scheduled in beginning of January initially but luckily the venue is vacant on 31 December so we can have the chance to celebrate New Year with Beijing audience. In Taiwan, usually a lot of groups of celebrities will count-down together.” Wu Zun said, “Hope that they will be more fireworks on that day, like that will have more feel.” When asked if they will add in some local traditions for the Beijing concert, the members revealed, “We will do some changes for every concert depending on the country. Previously Shanghai fans gave us a CD with Shanghai ballad in it hoping that we can speak Shanghainese at the concert.” Jiro Wang immediately said ‘I like Shanghai’ in Shanghainese and invited a fan who came from Shanghai to teach him ‘something more difficult’. Beijing fans took this opportunity and taught Fahrenheit to speak Beijing language, immediately different intonations could be heard, the members was addicted to it, “Wait er, eat er, have a nice time er…”

The success of the first concert in Hong Kong in September made Fahrenheit confident. “Remember dancing for the first time in front of 2 million people, feet almost turned jelly. However the crowded scene is really a very good experience.” Fahrenheit smiled and said, “The lights can intrigue the glands of our liver making us more and more excited.”

Calvin Chen and Aaron Yan celebrates birthday

The day of the event was Calvin Chen’s birthday; fans bought cake to celebrate for him. After Calvin Chen made his wishes, he shifted the cake to Aaron Yan who was going to celebrate his birthday soon; the both of them celebrated a heart-warming birthday with the voices of their fans. Calvin Chen was touched and said, “Although sometimes I feel tired but fans’ encouragements are our motivation.” As a public figure especially idols, it is natural to lose some freedom in the applause. Aaron Yan said, “Was already prepared before entering the industry. To be an artiste with achievements it is necessary to shoulder these burdens.” Jiro Wang said, “Now we will still take trains, it is nothing even if we were caught on camera. We can’t stop doing all these just because we are artistes if not we will lose a lot of ourselves.”

Interview

Try ‘rock’ style in album

Fahrenheit is currently preparing for their third album since debut. “Previously we did not spend much time in China, but all the songs this time are recorded in China. The new album has a lot of local cultural, for example we tried some new things while recording in Shanghai and Beijing. We are always seeking changes in our style. These days we met a lot of artistes after attending a lot of award ceremonies and functions. Be it seniors or artistes of the same age, they have a lot of things worth us to learn from. For example S.H.E, we won’t get tired of seeing them. Their chemistry is very touching.” Fahrenheit revealed that they will try ‘rock’ in their new album, and in terms of style they will “be as ‘rock’ as they can be”. They might add in songs from their new album in the concert.

As idol group, Fahrenheit’s singing ability has always been doubted by outsiders. With regards to this, the four members said that they are always working hard, hope to be a music group with talents. “Although due to work reasons we are unable to concentrate time to accept official training but every concert and performance is a learning opportunity, sometimes real life experience is better than plain talking, of course we hope to be improving. Recently we learnt a lot following S.H.E on the tour, better than us trying out on our own without any directions.”

Hates rumours about not getting along the most

Although it had been less than 3 years since their debut but Fahrenheit’s popularity can be compared to F4 then. Remembering the difficulties that they went through, the members said, “Rumours about Fahrenheit not getting along with each other makes us most unhappy.”

With regards to such rumours, it is normal to feel uncomfortable. However due to the recent concerts such rumours have been getting lesser. In the past it could be due to each of them having their own dramas and work so everyone will be a bit suspicious. Actually we stand as one.” Calvin Chen revealed, “Every time after the event ended we will communicate when we got into the car, vent or share our experience. Everyone will have their persistence, and some points that we can’t change. If one of us can’t get to the answer for one of his problems the rest of us will counsel him. This is the good thing about group. I feel that groups improve faster, if there is only one person normally people around you will not dare to offend you, normally they will praise you. But the four of us will directly say where you did not do well just now, there is nothing not to be share among buddies, like this then can we improve fast.” Fahrenheit revealed that recently they are putting their attention on concert and the new album, as for dramas side they will have to see the company’s arrangement.

Conclusion

Buddy love, support to enter

Among the four members of Fahrenheit, as his leg injury has yet to fully recover, Jiro Wang had difficulty walking. From the rest room to the event venue, the rest of the members supported him and helped him to block out the fans who were surrounding, this type of buddy love is indeed touching.

Under the invitation of the Tourism Bureau’s Transport Department, idol group Fahrenheit held a Wish To See You in Taiwan endorsement event in Tokyo, Japan today. The four of them performed a modernised glove puppetry show of “Journey to the West”, introducing Taiwan’s cuisine and tourist attractions. The result was a success.

After idol group F4 endorsed Taiwan tourism and allowed Taiwan to receive $1.1 billion in tourism earnings, today the Tourism Bureau’s transport department invited Fahrenheit to endorse. Today at large Tokyo hotel, a press conference was held with over 200 reporters at the location. Japanese singer Mai Kuraki also especially came to congratulate them and offer flowers.

At the press conference, the short clip of Fahrenheit endorsing “Wish To See You Again in Taiwan” was broadcasted, portraying the youthful, energetic aspects of Taiwan. The host asked them to each introduce tourist attractions they would recommend the most.

Calvin Chen recommended Taichung Garden’s Moon Pavillion. He said this was where they celebrated the opening of Taiwan’s North-South Railway.

Dadong (Jiro Wang) recommended the National Palace Museum. He said the museum had over 600,000 antiques. He said the meticulous engraved work of the “Emerald Cabbage” was worthing having a look at.

Wu Chun recommended Kenting. He said the Kenting scenery was beautiful, the air was fresh, there were comfortable lodges and it was a place that really allowed a person to relax. You can have fun by the beach of Kenting in the morning, then eat seafood at night, especially fried oysters.

Arron Yan recommended Yilan. He said Yilan was filled with the atmosphere of Taiwan’s traditions and culture. You can enjoy shadow plays, glove puppetry among others, which show second and third generation descendants upholding Taiwan’s culture.

Afterwards, the four people began to perform a glove puppetry show, the theme being a modernised “Journey to the West”. The show introduced Taiwan’s mangoes, bananas among other fruit. Wu Chun, who was controlling the character of Zhu Ba Jie said, “There’s beef noodles, oishii [Japanese for delicious], and also lobster, abalone etc.”

The Tourism Bureau’s Transport Department Chief Lai Se Zhen said, in 2005 over 1 million Japanese tourists visited Taiwan and even though last year this number fell by 1.4%, still 1.17million Japanese people came. At the moment, the economy is not great, but Taiwan has confidence that because the Japanese Yen is increasing and also due to the Japanese Government’s “Travelling Around the World” promotions, Taiwan has room to strive.

She said, every year 1.3million Taiwanese people travel to Japan, so it could be said that we understand and love Japanese tourists the most. Therefore when the Japanese come to Taiwan, they will receive a warm welcome and feel at ease.

Besides that, the Tourism Bureau also have a “secret weapon” to attract more young, female tourists. After F4 endorsed Taiwan Tourism, this year Fahrenheit will take over their role with the campaign: “travelling to Taiwan to chase stars”, welcoming everyone to come to Taiwan on February 15th to attend Fahrenheit’s international fan gathering.

During his speech, Taiwanese Feng Ji Tai who resides in Japan said, “President Ma Yi Jiu made clear that he wants to expand Taiwan-Japanese Tourism. His daughter who is studying in university in Taipei said, if he doesn’t get Fahrenheit’s autographed photo, he doesn’t need to return to Taiwan at the end of the year.” As a result, the entire crowd burst out in laughter.
